Here it is. The fruit of my labor. A food blog with mostly original and always natural recipes. Find restaurant reviews here and there, coverage of local food events and coming soon, interviews with food connoisseurs. Although mainly, this is a chronicle of my life through food.
Working a day-job and keeping a blog continues to be a struggle, but I will do my best to keep a consistent schedule. Twice a week feels as ambitious as I can handle. I’d love to hear your thoughts as you browse around the new site. Is something missing? Are links broken? Send me an email or leave a comment – I’d love to hear from you. A month in the making, the new design should provide you with intuition navigation, so you easily find the right posts. I also hope it will provide you with a respite from hectic life, a place to read the ramblings of a girl adjusting to life in California, while adding to your repertoire of recipes.
Enjoy!
Bread Salad with Pan-Roasted Tomatoes and Basil
One Baguette, cooked under a Roasted Chicken. Read the recipe
10 organic cherry tomatoes
A handful of fresh basil, sliced thin
Extra-Virgin olive oil
Sea Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Cut each cherry tomato in half (horizontally). Heat up a cast-iron skillet and add olive oil. Add the tomatoes and let cook without stirring for about 5 minutes. Toss around in the pan, add salt and pepper, and cook for 4 more minutes. Turn off the heat. Add the basil and toss again.
Add the baguette slices to a bowl, and pour tomatoes and basil on top. Drizzle with high-quality olive oil.
Where I shopped:
Tomatoes and basil: Berkeley Farmers’ Market, Happy Boy Farms
Seeded Sourdough baguette: La Farina Bakery, Oakland
St. Pierre extra-virgin olive oil: Monterey Market, Berkeley
